Secretary-General
Marj Berman
Marj Berman, a rising junior in Calhoun College at Yale, originally hails from the suburbs of Philadelphia. She participated in Model UN throughout high school, and is incredibly excited for her third year with Yale Model United Nations. As Secretary-General she works with all levels of staff to ensure the delegates, advisors, and staff have the best MUN experience possible. She's looking forward to sharing the energy of Model UN that inspired her interest in international relations with all of the delegates. Besides YMUN, Marj also helps teach YIRA’s international relations class, Hemispheres, to New Haven high school students; performs with Yale Children’s Theatre, and dances in a modern dance troupe. At Yale, Marj studies History of Science, History of Medicine and hopes to devote her life to organizing public health programming to improve the wellness of others.
Director-General of Operations
Suzie Jing
Suzie is currently a junior in Branford College, majoring in Ethics, Politics & Economics. She's interested in philosophy, mural art, creative writing, hiking in heels, and... oh yeah, international relations! Having lived in Shanghai, Tel Aviv, British Colombia, California, Suzie now attends Yale as an in-state student from Cheshire, Connecticut. Being a local, one of her favorite activities is tour guiding for Yale in the summer and frequenting Jojo's cafe! Suzie knows all parts of YMUN having competed as a delegate and worked on two Secretariats prior to YMUN 38!
Director-General of Staff
Sibjeet Mahapatra
Sibjeet (Sib) Mahapatra is a current junior in Silliman College, originally hailing from Montvale, New Jersey, and majoring in Ethics, Politics and Economics. He's been involved with YMUN for more than six years--three as a delegate, and three on the staff-side--and is thrilled to help make the committees at this YMUN the best ones yet! When he isn’t working on YMUN, Sib serves as the Vice President of the Yale International Relations Association, is an Editor Emeritus for the Yale Globalist, reads and writes a lot, hikes and does outdoors-y stuff with FOOT, and goes on trips with MUNTY (the Yale MUN competitive travel team).

Larissa Liburd
Larissa Liburd originally hails from Port au Prince, Haiti, but is now a resident of Miami, Florida adjusting to the chilly New Haven weather. She is a current freshman in Saybrook College who will probably major in Comparative Literature. At Yale, Larissa is a Class and Residential College Council member, which apparently means she likes to argue. Larissa's also a YDN staff reporter and plays soccer with the women's club team, even though she thinks running is a form of torture. She's also totally pumped to combine two of her new favorite things - Yale and Model UN - and to meet all of the delegates who feel the same way at YMUN 2012!
USG of Delegations
Dennis Wang
Dennis Wang is a rising sophomore in Calhoun College. Although he was born in Montreal, Canada, his family is from Shanghai, China, and he currently lives in Fairfax, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. Dennis intends to major in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, but Model United Nations is perhaps his single largest extracurricular activity. His interests are varied, and during the summer of 2011, he will be involved with scientific research at the Yale Stem Cell Center, global health work in Honduras, and the WEMUN EXPO in Beijing, but he is most excited to have the opportunity to work together with delegates and advisors as USG Delegations. Dennis looks forward to meeting each and every conference participant, and making YMUN XXXVIII the best possible experience.
USG Services
Eric Willett
Eric is super excited to be USG Services for YMUN XXXVIII. A freshman (sophomore?) in Trumbull College, Eric originally comes from the exotic and warm locale of Vero Beach, Fl. There, throughout high school, he was active in MUN and competed at a number of national conferences. At Yale, Eric plans on majoring in Economics and Mathematics. Eric loves finding his way onto roofs, frolicking around Yale, and -- yes -- long walks on the beach.

Aahan Bhojani
Aahan Bhojani is a sophomore in Ezra Stiles College who plans to major in Ethics, Politics, and Economics. Originally hailing from New Delhi in India, Aahan has lived in Dubai for 18 years, and is still in the process of acclimatizing to Yale's frosty winters. At Yale, Aahan is involved with the Yale International Relations Association, and serves on the boards of the International Students Organization and South Asian Society. In his free time, he loves to play tennis, plan his next set of travels, and scout New Haven for restaurants and eateries for his food blog (that he has yet to write on). As Under Secretary-General for YMUN XXXVIII, Aahan cannot wait to provide all those delegates lucky enough to place in to YMUN's GA committees with their most exhilarating, energetic, and electrifying MUN experiences so far!
USG of ECOSOCs
Daniel Tahara
As a sophomore who has been heavily committed to YIRA since arriving on campus, Daniel could not be more excited to serve as Under Secretary-General for ECOSOC Committees for YMUN XXXVIII. Daniel has been involved with Model UN since 10th grade, first as head delegate for his high school team and most recently as the moderator for the Afghan Cabinet at YMUN XXXVII. In his other lives, Daniel is a major in Computer Science and Mathematics and Communications Chair on the board of Yale Hillel. He is also an avid runner who hopes to one day complete an Iron Man Triathlon. In his role as Under Secretary-General for YMUN, Daniel is most looking forward to providing delegates with stimulating and challenging committee experiences, and he cannot wait to see how they apply their knowledge and creativity to solving the problems of tomorrow!
USG of Specialized Committees
Harry Larson
Harry Larson hails from the “glamorous” Dalton School, but is unfortunately not as similar to a character in Gossip Girl as one may hope. He is part of the JE Class of 2014, and likes spending his nights going to late-night Miya’s with his suitemates and lovely girlfriend, when he’s not being a super nerdy potential English and Econ double-major. His interests beyond YMUN XXXVIII include girly TV shows, crying during girly TV shows, Claire’s cake, and obsessively reading the New York Times.
Director of Security
Kevin Hoffman
Kevin is a senior in Pierson College from Palos Verdes Estates, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. He's a mechanical engineering major, and is very interested in the nexus of policy, economics, and engineering as it relates to the renewable energy and climate change issues. As last year's Secretary General, he's thrilled to see many delegations return and equally excited to welcome all newcomers to Yale. When he's not working on YMUN, Kevin plays club soccer and volunteers in a local elementary school with his teammates. He is also a Freshman Counselor for Pierson College. Kevin enjoys camping, water skiing, watching movies, and having spontaneous adventures. He wishes everyone the best of luck at this year's YMUN!
YMUN 39 will be held Jan 24, 2013 - Jan 27, 2013. Block off the dates in your calendar and stay tuned for details about next year's regsitration process!
Congratulations, delegates, staffers, and advisors for an outstanding year at YMUN! Thank you all for coming and sharing your enthusiasm with us. This conference would not have been the same without any one of you. We look forward to seeing you again next year at YMUN XXXIX!
As a reminder to all delegates, YMUN requires Western Business Attire for all committee sessions. Additionally, we have policies barring pre-written resolutions and computers. Please keep these policies in mind while preparing for the conference.
