ABOUT THE FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM
It is YMUN’s ultimate goal to ensure that all delegates can attend our conference regardless of financial need. To that end, our Financial Aid program seeks to lower delegates’ conference costs by waiving the $80 delegate fee based on the demonstrated need of individual delegates; these costs are underwritten by our parent organization, the Yale International Relations Association. For more information on our Financial Aid program, please see our Financial Aid Information Page. Send completed Financial Aid Applicantions to USG Delegations, Dennis Wang, at dennis.wang@yira.org and Director-General of Operations, Suzie Jing, at suzie,jing@yira.org.
In addition to our Financial Aid program, the YMUN Secretariat also provides a document to schools outlining ways to reduce costs, obtain sponsorship or raise funds to cover the cost of attending our conference; this is available for download from the “Important Documents” section below.
ELIGIBILITY
Delegates are eligible to apply for YMUN’s Financial Aid program if they are able to prove a demonstrated financial need. To demonstrate financial need, YMUN requires that delegates submit, along with their application, a letter from a faculty adviser certifying the delegate is eligible for financial aid. YMUN does not ask, nor require, delegates to submit family financial information.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants must submit a completed Financial Aid application form, available here. Applications are considered on an individual, rather than delegation basis, and each delegate must submit an application, or have a faculty adviser submit an individual application on his or her behalf. Faculty advisers should collect all individual financial aid applications from their delegation, and submit them altogether.
As part of the application, applicants will need to detail the major costs associated with attending our conference, as well as any sources of funding available from the applicant’s school, grants, and sponsorships, etc. A written letter by the applicant’s faculty advisor certifying that the delegate is eligible for financial aid and has a demonstrated financial need must be attached to the application. Finally, financial aid applications are considered on a rolling basis, and financial aid is allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis, though the final deadline for financial aid applications is Saturday, October 1, 2011, when regular registration closes. Please apply as early as possible!
YMUN 39 will be held Jan 24, 2013 - Jan 27, 2013. Block off the dates in your calendar and stay tuned for details about next year's regsitration process!
Congratulations, delegates, staffers, and advisors for an outstanding year at YMUN! Thank you all for coming and sharing your enthusiasm with us. This conference would not have been the same without any one of you. We look forward to seeing you again next year at YMUN XXXIX!
As a reminder to all delegates, YMUN requires Western Business Attire for all committee sessions. Additionally, we have policies barring pre-written resolutions and computers. Please keep these policies in mind while preparing for the conference.
