Currently in its thirty-eighth session, the Yale Model United Nations Conference is one of the premiere conferences on the high school Model UN circuit, drawing 1,300 delegates annually to Yale University’s historic campus for a four-day dynamic simulation of international diplomacy. With dele- gates from across the United States and all over the world, YMUN is one of the most diverse conferences in the country. Bearing the theme “YMUN: The World and You”, the conference seeks to create a vigorous educational experience thatprovides students with the opportunity to debate and discuss some of the pressing issues facing the globe. Our mission is to create an engaging learning environment, which students can practice international diplomacy, as well as hone debating and speaking skills. We want to encourage students to critically examine, debate, and discuss some of the pressing issues facing the globe. We challenge delegates to think more like global citizens, and to approach the is- sues of the day with a more global perspective. With 20 committees ranging from the Economic and Financial Committee of the UN General Assembly, to the UN Children’s Fund and the Iranian Council, the conference allows delegates to experience accurate representations of authentic governing bodies and councils, ranging from the past to the present. The conference’s location on Yale’s campus also caters to the unique experience inherent within a YMUN weekend. Delegates are invited to a special- Yale Day event, generally held on the Friday of the conference week- end, and are encouraged to attend classes with some of the world’s best professors. The opportunity to explore a campus with a history spanning hundreds of years is theirs to be fully utilized - with the added bonus of special celebratory events sponsored by the Yale International Relations Association.
YMUN 39 will be held Jan 24, 2013 - Jan 27, 2013. Block off the dates in your calendar and stay tuned for details about next year's regsitration process!
Congratulations, delegates, staffers, and advisors for an outstanding year at YMUN! Thank you all for coming and sharing your enthusiasm with us. This conference would not have been the same without any one of you. We look forward to seeing you again next year at YMUN XXXIX!
As a reminder to all delegates, YMUN requires Western Business Attire for all committee sessions. Additionally, we have policies barring pre-written resolutions and computers. Please keep these policies in mind while preparing for the conference.
